Dear Catherine:

First, the issue is not "the perfect being the enemy of the good." The issue is reductionism that falls short of a 75%-95% reduction *cannot" solve the problem. And given that not everyone will reduce to that level--indeed, many will not--it is incumbent on those who care to reduce to 100% on environmental grounds alone.

Second, you say that "[b]eing vegan is insanely difficult." That is complete nonsense. It is actually extremely easy, particularly if you given a damn about morality and planetary survival.

Third, groups like Extinction Rebellion and the other environmental jokes are not promoting veganism at all. Indeed, ER is positively hostile to promoting veganism as necessary.
